Influence of ABS Plastic Machining Technology on Plastic Plating

Plastic plating is widely used in the electronics industry, national defense scientific research, household appliances and daily necessities. ABS plastic has excellent comprehensive properties, which is widely used, and is easy to form. The surface is easily etched to obtain a higher coating adhesion, so it is currently used most in electroplating.


The influence of ABS plastic machining technology on plastic plating:


(1) A screw injection machine should be used to ensure uniform distribution of the B component in the ABS plastic.


In addition, you should also pay attention to whether the selected injection machine will cause internal stress on the part and affect the adhesion of the coating.


(2) Drying of raw materials. 


ABS plastic particles are easy to absorb moisture. If they are not dried, defects such as bubbles, silver wires, lack of gloss will occur on the surface of the part during forming, which will affect the appearance and adhesion of the coating.


(3) Selection of injection process parameters. 


The selection of injection process parameters should make the internal stress of the part as small as possible and overcome the appearance defects such as flow marks and ripples, and appropriate increasing of the processing temperature and mold temperature, reduction of injection pressure, shortening of holding time, and appropriate reduction of the injection speed will reduce the internal stress of the part to varying degrees.


(4) It is not allowed to use oil as a mold release agent, otherwise the roughening will be uneven and the bonding force of the coated metal cannot be guaranteed. If necessary, use talcum powder or soapy water as a release agent.
